Our roots run deep, the Barnes family has been tending to the same land for over a hundred years. However, Spring House Farm started a little later, in 1953, when Charles F. Barnes Sr. began growing his own crops and moved just down the path to the house next to the spring. For many years, tobacco was the main crop at Spring House Farm and not until 1983 did the herd begin to grow. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In 1983, Charles and his son, Charlie, began building the current Spring House Farm herd. Starting with just a few cows, they quickly grew to a quality, registered Angus herd. In 1992, they took the show on the road as the third generation, Jonathan, began exhibiting SHF cattle around the country. Over the next few years, the herd would grow to its largest as tobacco would slowly phase out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Today, Charlie runs the day-to-day operations of Spring House Farm with a sole focus on raising better cows. He has spent much of the past few years making improvements to; create quality pastures for more efficient grazing, establish cleaner water sources while protecting streams and ponds, and replace outdated or unsafe infrastructure. By doing all these things, SHF cows remain the best around<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
